It was a travelling day today – passed through lots of changing landscape. Made our way to a rest area just past Fitzroy Crossing at Ngumpan Cliff. As this was a quick overnight camp, we only partially set up. It was bitterly cold as we were on the top of a hill, so we set to and made a campfire which kept us toasty and warm. We woke up with the sunrise which was fantastic, packed up the camper and made our way to Halls Creek, where we had breakfast and the best Cappicino we have had so far! – who would have thought we would find an expert barista in this small outback town! After a nourishing breakfast we are on our way to the Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungle) – one of the highlights of the trip.
We arrived at the Purnululu National Park which included travelling through a cattle station to get to the park, the road was pretty rough, it took 1 1/2 hours to travel 53kms! We set up camp here for 3 nights and then got started doing some walks investigating the area. We went to Cathederal Gorge, then did the Piccaninny Creek walk to the lookout and then Mini Palm walk and Echinda Chasm. Again, the grandure of the Bungles was breathtaking. I have included a few photos here of the many I took, but again, photos do not do justice to the extreme beauty of the of this area in the Kimberley.
