We said goodbye to Perth and continued on to explore the South West region. First stop was Preston Beach, a very windy free camp.

From there we headed to Busselton where we set up in a caravan park which was walking distance to the town. Busselton was beautiful, I had a lovely time poking about the pretty shopping centre and we headed to the foreshore down by the jetty. We took the little train to the end of the jetty and did a tour of the observatory which was really interesting.

The weather has turned quite cold but it didn’t stop us heading out for an old school Chinese for Fathers Day. We walked in the rain and laughed a lot, bringing back memories of Chinese meals past.

We took a drive to Cape Naturaliste National Park to watch the whales and visit the lighthouse. It was a beautiful walk, then headed to the coastline to take in amazing vistas.

We moved on to Yallingup where we had a beautiful meal at Caves House and enjoyed a stroll around the gardens.

From there we moved on to Margaret River. We had a drive around the area, poked about the shops and did a lovely river walk. Of course we also tasted a bit of wine, as you do in Margaret River!

Must admit the landscape around Margaret River was beautiful, but we did prefer Busselton as a town.

We traveled to Hamlin Bay which we loved and camped there the night falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves not far from our door. We spent the afternoon lying on the beach and resting, even though it was a bit chilly, it was still a beautiful place to be warmed by the spring sun.

We watched the sunset and then reluctantly decided to move on the next day.

Traveling south we headed to Augusta, we were not disappointed. What a beautiful place. We took a drive up to Leeuwin Lighthouse where both the Indian Ocean and the Southern Oceans meet. It was extremely windy but so ruggedly beautiful.

So we have finished heading south. Next we start heading east. We have turned the corner so to speak.
