After the fun at Lake Argyle we continued on to the Dunham River Rest Camp where we spent a peaceful free camp. We are loving these free camps, where you can pull off from the main road onto a bush track, sometimes set up with toilets, etc, but often just a track into the landscape that is peaceful and makes you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere (which is often the case out here).

From there we travelled to Ngumban Rest Area with magnificent views of the cliffs. This was a very popular spot and there were lots of discussions with other nomads talking about ‘where ya heading – east or west?’ – best way to pick up tips about where to stay and what to see.

Next stop was Willare Roadhouse where we had a lovely lunch in the cafe.

We then headed to Broome. We almost didn’t recognize it from when we were there last. Cable Beach has completely changed, still beautiful but different. We headed out to Gantheaumue Point, the colours of the landscape blew us away.

Then onto Barn Hill Station. This was an experience. We were greeted by loud disco music coming from the station (it was Saturday disco time) which got everyone in the park bopping along.

After 2 nights at Barn Hill Station we continued on to 80 mile beach, which was a great place if you are into driving on the beach, or fishing.

Next to De Grey Rest Area, another peaceful spot to park ‘Where’s Wallee’.

By this stage we had travelled 1,574kms from Lake Argyle – the distances between drinks are huge here. The landscapes amazing. It was then on to Port Headland to supply up with gas, fuel, food etc ready for the next much anticipated leg into Karijini National Park.

We have been very lucky with the weather for the whole trip. Only the last couple of days the evenings are becoming cooler.

Feel free to comment or just say Hi! 😊
