We made our way to Mission Beach which is where the rainforest meets the reef. We could have been on a tropical island, it certainly had that vibe. We camped there for 3 days and then moved on to Etty Bay, which like Mission Beach was a beautiful tropical part of Queensland.
We were able to see one Cassowary that wandered through our campsite, what a majestic bird they are! Unfortunately, I was snoozing in my campchair and Roddy woke me up without much time to grab my camera, so missed getting a decent photo. You snooze, you lose is about right!
Sophia came out to play (my bike) and we had a wonderful ride along Mission Beach that seemed to go forever.
Mission Beach offered us a great market on the Sunday and a beautiful dinner at Charlies Beach House on Sunday night.
Etty Beach was much quieter, but it was lovely that we could sit around our firepit and just listen to the gentle waves.
Today we headed up to Josephine Falls, which was a little intimidating for swimming so we headed to Babinda Boulders which was much calmer and so refreshing.
Tomorrow we make our way up to Cairns, not sure yet what we will discover. Stay tuned!
