We set off from El Questro on the ‘notorious’ Gibb River Road. Well we wondered what all the fuss was about regarding the Gibb River Road, it was like driving on a highway!……until we caught up with the Grader 200kms on! Then we understood why it is called the ‘notorious’ Gibb River Road, corrugations, potholes and lots of red dust! We crossed the Hahn River and stopped for a cuppa and a couple of grey nomads following us said our trailer was leaking! Rod climbed under and had a look and found the take off point for the water tank had split, probably received a hit from a rock and we were losing water from our tank fast. He put his bushcraft skills to use and carved a wedge from a stick with his trusty pocket knife to plug the hole. It will at least get us to the next stop where we can reassess our water situation. We made our way to Mount Barnett Roadhouse where we set up camp, lit a campfire and set ourselves up for the night.
